VA Federal Court

Elita C. Amato practices before the Alexandria Division of the United States District Court for the District of Virginia handling a wide array of cases.  Several of her cases included large co-defendant RICO conspiracy gang cases before the Court.  She also represented persons charged with white collar offenses, drug conspiracy cases, various fraud charges, and drug offenses, as well as representing clients on charges stemming from arrests on military or federal park property.   This extensive Virginia  Federal Court trial experience over several years, has given Ms. Amato a unique understanding of the Judge’s practices and expectations.  And she adds to this knowledge by staying on top of prosecution office discovery disclosure policies and procedures.

In all her cases, Ms. Amato diligently works early and hard to identify if any, constitutional violations that can be claimed against her client’s rights.  As an example, she recently was successful in precluding the prosecution from using at trial statements taken in violation of a client’s 4th Amendment right to remain silent.

She was recently mentioned in the Washington Post:
“In court, [Elita Amato] emphasized that there was no evidence that [her client] was using drugs while buying guns.”
